I walk through the cold dark streets of Brixton and I see nothing but the dark black sky with very light clouds and hear nothing but loudness. I walk these tedious alley ways crammed with homeless people and vicious smells that waft to my nose, every time I inhale the cold air of Brixton. Huge crowds of people pass through every minute of the day. It’s like the dull sense of the place is waiting for me.
The dark alleys have sudden breezes. The iceness stabs at my ears.
Every morning I open my window and I feel a cold winter breeze that gushes to my cheeks. This morning I could feel the bitter taste of the markets. The nauseous black clouds float past my window. The constant monotonous drill from the construction site lacerated my mind. When I am out in Brixton the bitterness of the cold sour air gushes to my mouth, and my thoughts returned to the old ways of my childhood, the birthday party I had when I turned eleven years old.
My mind turns back when I hear the busy and compressed Brixton Village. I walk past the entrance under the blue bridge and head towards Electric Avenue to get to the stalls on Atlantic Avenue where the cluttered pulsating stalls.
shopping in the dull market which is very busy and compressed , the normal day to people and we have the executive people wearing expensive parka jackets and brief cases crowding the bus stops and stations which is always full and almost impossible to get past because of the high activity of people going to work.
The dark senses of the cold estates surrounding the high street which are advised not to pass through, full of young teenagers dressed in all black and can barely see their faces who look by far more than intimidating than anything you have seen in your journey through Brixton.
When you arrive in this place I feel that you are under the arms of a dark cloud that follows you everywhere you go, in the winter season this place is like a replica of the South Pole with cold frost scraping against your body. When you are next in this cold place ask yourself a question? Why am I here, the reason I say this is because the place is beautiful but yet its old and trashy too many people crowding the streets, you storms and fuel. The sirens of emergency services every minute of the day. The caved in atmosphere that only stays in one place and follows you every step you make.
can barely walk anywhere without someone standing on your new trainers or literally pushing you out of the way I don’t like this put gradually I had to put up with it.
On some occasions there are some bright sides of Brixton, for example the bright shine of the summer weather which gives everyone the quick release of energy in the atmosphere around which boosts the level of noise and happiness. A lot of things happen at this time like activities for everyone to take part in and it also brings the Brixton community together.

Hi Nathaniel, this is a very straight forward account and I would like you to explore the emotions felt by the narrator.
You could explore the thoughts running through your mind? How do you feel about where you are walking to? What have you left behind?
Bring the streets of Brixton or the markets alive through sights and sounds. Who could you see in the streets below your window. Again what thoughts enter your mind as you watch the life of the streets below?
How do these kids dress, do, say that makes them so intimidating? You could compare these parts of Brixton with the really fashionable and popular markets.
What do you mean by ‘cold blocks’ the estates?
